Strength Training for Over 40s -
Personal Trainer Basingstoke

If you're already active, the question isn't whether you can lift weights - it's whether you're following a programme that actually leads to change, the kind you (and possibly others) can see. Are you progressing as expected? Building real strength? Or stuck on a plateau?

Random exercises and step counts can only get you so far. What you need is a level up - a progressive approach to building strength and pushing through whatever's holding you back.

Strength training here isn't a single plan - it's a continuum, built in 8-week blocks. You start with the Beginners Strength Programme: proper progressive overload, tracked and structured, not guessed at week to week. From there, each block builds on the last.

The muscle you build now is the muscle that protects your joints, keeps your metabolism working for you, and gives you a buffer against the slow decline that starts creeping in during your 40s whether you train or not.

Sessions are whole-body, two to three times a week, with cardio built in to support the bigger picture - not bolted on as an afterthought.

You don't need to have lifted seriously before. You need to be ready to stop cherry-picking exercises and start following a plan that actually goes somewhere.
