Strength Training for 60s+ -
Personal Trainer Basingstoke
Here's something most gyms won't tell you: after 60, it's not really strength that predicts whether you can get out of a chair without using your hands, or catch yourself before a stumble becomes a fall. It's power - how fast you can produce force, not just how much.
Power drops off faster than raw strength as we age, which is exactly why training only for "strength" in the traditional sense is half the story.
So it's important we train both - building real strength safely, and layering in the kind of controlled, quicker movement that keeps you capable in the moments you least expect.
Like every stage, training here runs in 8-week blocks - each one building on what came before, so progress is tracked, not guessed at.
This isn't about lifting heavy for the sake of it. It's about staying strong enough, and quick enough, to trust your own body. But also ensuring you have strength through a capable range of motion, for everyday activities and those times you currently steer clear of.
