Beginners Fitness for Over 50s -
Personal Trainer Basingstoke

Starting in your 50s often comes with a bit more at stake - joints complain more than they used to, energy isn't always there, and for a lot of women, the changes that come with menopause and bone density need to be addressed now, not later.

We build the same way regardless - foundation first, to build confidence and consistency, whether that's in the gym, at home or out and about. But the focus shifts slightly: protecting your joints while you build strength, and for women specifically, working the kind of resistance training that's been shown to help maintain bone density, alongside toning and strengthening your muscles.

The good news - you don't need to have trained before, and it doesn't matter if you're returning after a break that's lasted months or even years. Most people starting with me at this age simply don't know where to start, or assume cardio is the main component of a session. That can't be ignored entirely, but we'll combine your goals and needs alongside the issues that pop up so often when exercising in your 50s.

Your 50s isn't a hurdle - it's just a different starting point.

Getting Started

Every new 1-2-1 client starts with a first month of weekly sessions, minimum. We'll take a baseline weight range together (see the Quick Wins guide on this) and set you up with a food diary from day one.

You'll also get access to the Fit Coach app - track sessions, hit milestones, log your food, all in one place.

After the first month, you decide how often we train. The one rule: at least one session a month, so we can check you're still on track for your goals.

£240 a month for weekly sessions. After your first month, it's £60/session if you're training less often.

Weekly 1-2-1s too much of a commitment right now? Try Hybrid or Online coaching instead.
